Prayer and Fasting 2025

jan 9 - jan 19
At C3, we seek to put GOD FIRST in everything that we do. The way that we start our year is no exception! We choose to kick off the year with ten days of PRAYER AND FASTING—an intentional and prayerful period of refraining from our normal rhythms of eating food. We fast to focus on faithfully seeking God as an expression of our trust in His power alone. We believe that fasting is an act of worship to God and that it ushers God’s wisdom, direction, protection, comfort, clarity, and favour into our lives, our church, and the world.
To help you engage in this year’s Prayer and Fasting season, we’ve created a resource guide to answer all of your questions!

How does our church Fast?

Our church’s season of Prayer and Fasting lasts for 10 days, beginning on the 9th day of January and breaking fast together with communion on Sunday the 19th. During these ten days, we meet every weekday morning at 6:00 a.m. and on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. to pray together as a church.

Types of Fasts

There are several types of fasting that you can choose from, but all involve refraining from a category of food for a designated period of time! If you have specific health needs that don’t allow you to do a fast of food, we encourage you to speak to a trusted leader or reach out to contact@c3toronto.com to find another fasting option that could work for you!
Complete Fast
This fast calls for drinking only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.
Selective Fast
This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet, and consume water and juice for fluids along with fruits and vegetables for food.
Partial Fast
This fast is sometimes called the Jewish Fast and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as  eating between 6:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., or from sunup to sundown.

How to Prepare for Fasting

As you get ready to engage in Prayer and Fasting, we encourage you to do some research on your chosen fast! This will help you shop for any resources that you might need throughout your fast (juices, vitamins, teas, produce, etc.). However, be mindful that the primary focus of this prayer and fasting experience is to put the focus back on God, so we caution against any time-intensive meal plans that might distract you from getting into His presence!
As we do in all seasons of life, we encourage you to spend time in prayer even before we start Prayer and Fasting! Spend time worshipping God for what He is going to do through this season.
Join us for our Dream Service Wednesday, January 8th, where we’ll come together in expectation for the specific things we’re believing God for this year! Consider what you’re releasing into God’s hands this year! Be specific and believe with full faith! This will be a year of miracles!
